• Blessing of Pets

  Friday Oct 4, 2019 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM

  Blessing of pets will take place in the south parking lot of the church. This custom is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures. Francis, whose feast day is October 4th, loved all of God’s creatures. Francis wrote a Canticle of the Creatures, an ode to God’s living things. “All praise to you, Oh Lord, for all these brother and sister creatures.”
  Animals are our companions on Earth, be they house pets, domesticated livestock or wild creatures. We receive much from them: comfort, protection and wonder, as well as labor, food and clothing. So, we ask God to help us remember our dependence on these creatures, great and small, and to make us wise enough to care properly for all animals: they too reveal God’s loving presence.

  All are invited to our annual Confirmation Mass! Bishop David Kagan will celebrate the Confirmation Mass for the 20 students who have been preparing for the sacrament throughout the past year on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 2:00 p.m. The students and their Sponsors must arrive at 12:30 p.m. for photos and a meeting with Bishop Kagan. Cake and refreshments will be served following the Mass. Congratulations to those who will receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit through the sacrament of Confirmation on this day!
